Perpetual Vanilla is a 27 year old product. Perpetual Vanilla offers an old-fashioned way to make high quality vanilla that lasts for years under normal use. Slice the beans lengthwise; do not scrape out the seeds. Return to the bottle and add vodka. Pure vanilla extract when sold at the grocery store by law has to have 35% alcohol. Since vodka has no taste and no smell, the pure vanilla flavor is extracted. For a rum/vanilla flavor add rum instead of vodka. Bourbon can also be substituted for a vanilla/bourbon flavor. Allow the vodka to extract the vanilla flavor for one month or more. The longer it extracts, the more flavorful it becomes. Replenish the vodka immediately after each use.
